Sock Project III: Blackbird

I know, I'm missing the second pair of socks, but the yarn and pattern and needles were just not doing what I wanted them to so I had to put them away until I feel better about the whole thing.

In the meantime my giant order of "boring" (neutral) sock yarn came in the mail along with my book from Knit Picks. I figure since I'm kind of a beginner sock knitter Socktacular: Mix and Match Socks for Fancy Feet would be a pretty good place to start. It shows you a few different ways to do everything and tells you how to put it all together either toe up or cuff down, so I think it will be a nice place to start figuring out what is my way of knitting socks.

As soon as I posted this picture I got a message from my mom in Phillidelphia, "Hey, I just got this book too!"

For this pair I did a rolled cuff (something I've never tried before) with an eyelet cable pattern, a mitered heel (also new) and standard toe.

If you want info on the yarn, needles, techniques and/or my random notes, you can find my Ravelry Project Page here.
