At the beginning of January I began to think about what goals I wanted to set for myself and what I wanted to accomplish in 2017. Not resolutions exactly, but close enough I guess.
What did I want to get out of this year? What were some of my goals and how could I go about working towards them? One of the things I really want to do this year is to publish more patterns, and to publish them more consistently. I've found with self-publishing it's very hard to keep a schedule. Unlike publishing for a book or magazine there is no one to answer to but yourself and the only real "deadline" that I have is Knit City (the fibre festival held in October), so for the past two years in a row I've published little throughout the year, with a flood of new releases in September.
So I set a goal. It may be unrealistic but I'm going to try my hardest anyway! I plan to publish one pattern every month. Not to design one pattern a month, or photograph one pattern a month, or knit one pattern a month, but actually release it into the world. They are not all going to be super huge projects, but I am going to try to get a bit of variety in there.
So I started. The second week of January I began to design and write a pattern. Katie and I went out last weekend to shoot the pictures and it's with some testers right now. So the pattern is pretty well set - look for something new coming before the end of the month! (And then the one after that and the one after that and the one after that!)
