Summerland

CA$10.00

Digital knitting pattern pdf download

Summerland is a lightweight open-front cardigan with drop shoulder shaping and oversized, slightly balloon-shaped sleeves. It’s knit in an all-over simple lace pattern that is easy to memorize and intuitive, which makes this a great project for knit nights with friends, evenings with your favourite show, or even a day lounging at the beach.

It is knit seamlessly from the top down. The top back is worked first, then the left and right sides are picked up and worked to the underarms. Once the back and fronts are joined, the remainder of the body is worked until the hem. The sleeves are picked up around the underarms and then worked in the round to the wrists. A front band is added, then you’re finished!

For my sample, I’ve used a DK weight wool linen blend, which I love because it combines the coolness of linen with the bounce and memory of wool. Pattern is available in ten sizes from XS to 6X.

Yarn Requirements & Finished Measurements

Bramble Ridge DK 70/30 Wool Linen 100 g (3.5 oz) / 254 yards (232 meters); 70% Wool, 30% Linen; DK Weight in Squall.

Since this is an open front cardigan, it is recommended that you choose your size based on your upper bust measurement, which is the circumference around your body at your underarms, above your full bust.

Comparing this measurement with the Full Circumference measurement listed, choose a size with approximately 5-10“ / 13-25 cm of positive ease.

Model has an upper bust measurement of 41” / 104 cm and is wearing size XL with 7” / 18 cm of positive ease.

See the last photo for the Finished Measurements and Yardage Requirements chart for schematic and finished measurements.

Needles & Notions

US7 / 4.5 mm and US5 / 3.75 mm circular knitting needles (or size to obtain gauge) in various lengths, including circular and/or double pointed needles for working smaller circumferences in the round.

Tapestry needle, stitch markers, removable stitch markers, scrap yarn or stitch holders.

Gauge

18 sts x 24 rows/rnds = 4” / 10 cm in Eyelet Pattern, blocked.
